While examining the chainplates on my M26, I wondered if the backing plates are the original design or if this was modified by the previous owner.
Looking at the attached image, can anyone confirm if this is the original installation? The image quality is poor but what you're looking at is a large steel backing plate set onto a 40 cm thick bed of epoxy.

It lookes like the original installation.
Anyhow, it has happened tha the chanplate U-bolt for the lower shroud has broken due to material fatigue. Therefore we reccomend our members to replace them with others, speciallly made for the purpose.
