I have a very small leak around my lower gudgeon. The portions of the bolt and the stainless steel boss that can be seen from the inside of the boat look fine, but the wood block around them on the inside of the boat is somewhat rotted. Is failure of the gudgeon likely? Is it necessary to haul the boat out, remove the rudder and the gudgeon, check to see that there is no internal corrosion of the gudgeon, and then put the (new, if necessary) gudgeon back in with the necessary reglassing? Or am I better off leaving it alone?
Also, I cannot find any drawing or specification of the gudgeons in the class rules - are drawings or specifications available?
