Leaking forehatch

Inlägg av Pancho »

Any good ideas on how to stop the forehatch leaking? I replaced the seal at the start of last season but even with the screw fitting tightened I can see daylight!
I’m wondering whether I need a screw fitting in the two forward corners rather than just one in the middle…?

The seal may be tricky to fit.
It could be so, that the seal is too thick to fit at the aft edge of the hatch or it is not soft enough

Try to insert some thin washer from some hard fibre material or shoe sole rubber underneath the hinges(deck side) in order to lift the aft edge of the hatch a few millimetres.

How did the previous seal fit ?

My original seal was not solid but was shaped as a rubber "pipe". So it was much softer as a solid one. But age made it non elastic and there was a leakage. I used two seals, one flat in the grove to fill up a bit and then a thinner with round shape.
